Despite it's small size and increasing suburban sprawl, the core of Bellingham city is still a great place. For the nature lover Bellingham has abundant parks, trails, and easy access to lakes, oceans, and mountains with great powder. Bellingham also has good access to the San Juans and other local islands such as Lummi Island. Bellingham serves as the terminus for the Alaska Ferry, too. There's a vibrant artistic community and a decent music scene. Bellingham is also home to the Estrus record label if you're into that sort of thing. Summer and fall are especially nice in Bellingham with wonderful warm and sunny weather and a large lack of the bulging student population.
