Romania's climate is transitional between temperate and continental with four seasons. The average annual temperature is 10° C, reaching higher values in the south and lower in the north. The warmest month is July and the coldest is January. According to the Romanian Official Travel and Tourism Information website the best time to visit is during the spring months (March, April, May), when days are warm and evenings and mornings cool and refreshing. The Romanian summers (June to August) have been pretty hot the past years, with temperatures reaching record values of over 40° C. Winters (December to February) can be very cold, with temperatures well under 0° C, but also unusually warm (up to 10° C). Autumns are pretty wet and cool, with September as the best month to travel around this season. The average quantity of precipitation is around 750 mm/year, higher in the Carpathians and a lot lower around the Black Sea coast and in the Danube Delta.
