Money and Costs

Help File
Exchange rate: One dollar is equal to $600 Chilean pesos. One Euro is equal to 800 Chilean pesos. Change your money only in banks and money exchange offices (rec. Agustinas with Bandera with plenty of casa de cambios, shop around), not on the streets. You can also get cash from the ATMs located in banks, malls, commercial streets and gas stations. Tips: It is customary to add 10% of the value of your bill as a tip for the waiter in a restaurant, pub or cafe. It isn't common to tip taxi drivers. Business hours: Most banks are open to the public Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm. Money exchange offices operate from Monday to Friday from 9am to 7pm, and Saturdays from 9am to 3pm. On Sundays you can change money at exchange offices located in the malls (Parque Arauco, Alto Las Condes). Malls are open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 9pm. Shops open Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm and Saturdays from 9am to 2pm.
