Official Country Name: REPUBLICA BOLIVARIANA DE VENEZUELA.
Capital: Caracas which contains most dencity of population of the country. Its pleasant climate that oscillates between the 20 and 28 degrees Celsius (70 and 80 F). Its nocturnal life and its famous international gastronomy, as well as the cableway to raise the National Park Avila, makes of Caracas a well-known better special place like the Branch of the Sky.

Once you are in Venezuela, first thing you should know is that you don't need to worry about bus stops, big and small busses ("busetas", "carritos por puesto") stop where ever you ask them to and they are very cheap!!! air trips are a bit more expensive than you could think, so it is always better to travel around by bus or hitchicking, specialy around country side. NACIONAL CURRENCY: The official currency is "BOLIVARES" (Bs).Use of credit cards is accepted in most of the commercial establishments, restaurants and lodging, and normaly international banks charge you about $4 per transaction on the cash points (ask first to your bank, and be carefull to cancel transactions at cash points once you finish!!!!! some of them are being corrupted!!!!).At the moment, it exists official exchange control rate equivalent to Bs.1,950 per US dolar but you could obtain e ... more |

Post, Telephone, Fax, Internet Access ... you have all the facilities you need to comunicate localy and with the rest of the world. Specilly you get internet cafes and international call centres (centro de telecomunicaciones) everywhere in almost every town!!!! it is great! and still very cheap! |
