I went to Karachi febr.2006 to visit some friends, and I had a lovely time, I ame a single female traveller, and was constantly escorted by my pakistani friends, they are very protective for guest ( and females) so it is hard to do anything on your own, if you get invited. Bars, Cafes, Discos, Cinemas... There are very few night clubs in Islamabad and some in Lahore and Karachi. So not very rare to find. Though they are banned but still running under nice supervision.

As a european girl used to kissing and hugging people when I meet them ....... DON"T do that in Pakistan !! always keep distance of males....just shake a hand, and don't be suprised if they don't shake your hand at all. its not that they are not friendly, they are just not used to having this kind of greetings between man and women. be modest in expressions of exitement, women there don't even blink their eyes if they like your expresions can be easily mis-inturperd by man. ... more
