Walking route through Kaunas routes
The second largest Lithuanian town Kaunas is situated at the junction of two largest rivers of Lithuania - the Nemunas and the Neris. Kaunas is unique for its history and distinctive geographic position. It is the best to start the excursion from Kaunas Castle.

Lithuanian currency is Lithuanian Litas (LTL). It is currently peged to Euro where 1EUR = 3.45LTL.
Exchanging Money
You can change money at any bank. Take euro or usd as they have the best rates.
Traveler cheques are usualy not accepted (except for some top-end hotels and restaurants), but there is no problem to cash them at any bank or exchange office. There is 24hours a day opened exchange office in between bus and train station in Vilnius. Good ... more |

Basketball is considered to be the second Lithuanian religion: Lithuanian basketball team plays very good internationally, usually taking the 3rd place in Olympics.

The state language is Lithuanian, which belongs to the Baltic branch of the Indo-European family. The Lithuanian language boasts the best-retained ancient vocalic system and a number of morphological pecularities, known only in extinct or no longer used languages, such as Hittite, Ancient Greek or Sanskrit. Russian, Polish (and German in some areas) are also widely spoken. English is widely spoken in major cities.

Don't drive to Lithuania your best car - it will be most likely stolen! Most of the cars in Baltic states are 10 and more years old. There were enough stories how some well-organized Lithuanian criminals were stealing cars from naive West European foreigners.
