Have a look in the different quarters, especially in Prenzlauer Berg, Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, where "normal" and alternative life pulses. In Mitte, you find politics, lobbyism, tourism and expensive life.
Enjoy the flea market every sunday at the Boxhagener Platz in Friedrichshain and stop for a coffee in the Simon-Dach-Street and simply watch urban life or enjoy your 5 o´clock drink in one of the coffee bars at the Paul-Lincke-Ufer (riverside) in Kreuzberg.

Exchanging Money, Costs...
As soon as you've got a bankcard you'll find a suitable ATM at every corner. Changing money works fine in every bigger train-station (but be prepared for evil fees!).
The living-costs are one of the cheapest in Germany - you find a Kebap for not more than 2EUR (in some districts 1.50EUR) and a beer in a pub from 2EUR - Just to mention the most important ;-)

Post and Communications and Internet

Post, Telephone, Fax, Internet Access ... There's an extremely cheap (0,50 € per hour) internet café in Berlin-Kreuzberg. It's near U-Kottbusser Tor, Adalbertstr. 19.

Cheap Internet Cafes are all over the City of Berlin. There are "Call-Centers" or "Telephone Shops" in quarters where much imigants live (Neukölln, Kreuzberg, Wedding - even Friedrichshain) - there you can call for less money to all over the world.

Could not fit it into any of the categories above? Put it here...:-) For women there is a great place to go for a relaxing day: The Turkish Bath Hamam, at Mariannenstr. 6 in Kreuzberg. The building is exclusively for women. After you had your bath, maybe a massage, peeling or what ever - go have a nice tea at the Schokocafe upstairs. It´s perfekt after stressfull travels. There is also a turkish bath for man and women somewhere on bülow Strasse but I haven´t tried it out jet.
