Exchanging Money

Since Germany uses the Euro as a main currency there is not much to exchange. But if you need to exchange money, it is always better (cheaper) to bring foreign currency into the country, than to exchange it before you leave.

There are lots of "Wechselstuben" (Exchange booths) scattered all around the city, most of them -of course- near the Hauptbahnhof (main rail station) and the airport.

It is very easy to experience munich by using public transport and using the car in the city makes almost no sense as there are always traffic jams and the parking situation is horrible (means you never find a place to park in the inner city).

The best idea for tourists is to buy a one- or three-day ticket for the inner city. Those tickets are available for singles and partners and they are deffinelty the cheapest way if you use the subway more than three times, which you definetly will. ... more

BEERGARDENS - BIERGÄRTEN

There is a bavarian tradition that allows guests to bring their own food to the beergarden (and many people do as it is a nice and cheap way of going out. But you are only allowed to consume your food at tables without sheets.

There are three Pinakotheken in munich which present art work from Rembrand to the present days. On Sundays the entrance is free (as in every state owned museum) so you wont have to pay anything but on the otherhand there are more visitors. the whole street between karlsplatz and marienplatz is full of shops;
also the street going from marienplatz to odeonsplatz (there are the "Fünf Höfe" with really expensive shops like Hugo Boss, but there are also cafes and fast food restaurants which are really good like "Va Piano").
another street is "Sendlinger Straße", going from Sendlinger Tor to Marienplatz.
