IMPORTANT FOR HITCH HIKERS:
*for going south, north or east (Lyon, Nancy or Besançon), there is good starting point close to Dijon campus, but DON'T start hitch-hiking in the south of the campus close to a petrol-station (on the map it seems to be a good place), it's better to take RUE DE SULLY (bus 1) in the north of the campus: from there you can go in any direction//
*for going north-west (Paris) motorway A38 turning into A6 close to main train station in Dijon |

hitch-hiking: see insider tips; it's little difficult to get a lift right in the city, so when you're approaching Dijon watch for cars with "21" as last numbers on the plug which is Dijons code!//
car: please take hitch-hikers while approaching the city, it's really hard here! motorways going into town: A31 (north, Nancy), A36-A39 (east, Mulhouse, Basel etc), A6 (south, Lyon), A6-A38 (north-west, Paris)//

restaurants: in city centre are quite a lot, all kind, all prices//
supermarkets: watch out! supermarkets in town are very expensiv! there are some LIDL and ALDI rather outside, LIDL to be reached by bus number 1 (which is running from centre of town)//
street food: hey, this is France :) there are a lot of possibilities to buy prepared baguettes, not SO expensiv and quite a lot choice//

in bars you pay 5 Euros for 1/2litre beer, but this depends on which beer you drink of course! |

in the centre are a few internet cafés, but they cost all about 4 Euros/hour//
post offices are usually open from 9h to 19h, people working there are very nice and patient, if you speak A LITTLE french, then just try, they'd be happy!//
there are quiet a lot of public phones (especially on campus). to use most of them, you need to buy a prepaid-card (which is less expensive!) at the 'tabac' shop. you then dial the number that is written on the card (3003) and the special number of your card ( ... more |

bars: i recommend RUE BERBISSEY in the centre, there are o lot of cosy pubs//
the cinema Eldorado on Boulevard Voltaire shows films in original version with french subtitles for little money (maybe 5 Euros) |

most of the smaller shops are closed around noon, they usually stay open untill 19h in the evening, even on saturdays! on such saturdays it is most sure going into the centre of the town to shop |
