National Day: Independence Day, February 24. Estonia declared it's independence on this day in 1918.
Estonia became a NATO member state on 29 March 2004
Estonia became a European Union member state on 1 May 2004.
Capital: Tallinn (2003, population 405 562. It's 29.3% of total population).

Restaurants, Supermarkets, Street Food, Local Specialities If you're in Estonia you simply must taste Kama. It's flour-like thing which you mix with kefir or buttermilk and add sugar to taste. It can vary from drink to porridge-like food, just as you prefer. Estonian traditional liquer is Vana Tallinn, which is sold either pure and strong (vol. 40, 45 and 50) or as cream liquer (tastes somewhat like Baileys)

Currency
Local currency is Estonian kroon (EEK), 1 EEK = 15.65 EUR. Euro (€) is also accepted in some places, but they don't have to accept it.
Exchanging Money
Money can be exchanged in all banks free of charge.
Credit Cards
Debit and credit cards are widely used and are accepted almost everywhere. There are lots of ATMs in Estonia.

Estonians tend to portray themselves as hard-working, reliable, smart, innovative and friendly.
In attempt to avoid being seen as obtrusive or aggressive, Estonians (even service staff) keep to themselves and wait for you to make the first move. Once there, you will be greeted with an honest and kind attitude. Compliments given by an Estonian are genuine, handshakes are valid and invitations heartfelt.
