Exchange rate: One dollar is equal to $600 Chilean pesos. One Euro is equal to 800 Chilean pesos. Change your money only in banks and money exchange offices (rec. Agustinas with Bandera with plenty of casa de cambios, shop around), not on the streets. You can also get cash from the ATMs located in banks, malls, commercial streets and gas stations. Taxes: Due to the mutual visa requirements the citizens of USA, Canada and Australia are required to pay a fee of US100, US55 and US35 respectively when they pass through Immigrations at the airport (no fee when entering Chile by land or sea).

The main post office is located on Plaza de Armas (main square) and opens Monday through Friday from 8.30am to 7pm and Saturdays from 8.30am to 3pm. Climate and When to Go

Mediterranean climate with hot summers (over 86F on some days) and winters with heavy but brief rainfall in the city and snowfall only in the mountains. The mean annual temperature is 57F and the annual average rainfall is 15 in. The best time to visit Chile is from March to May and from October to November.
