Basic Facts

Espoo is a part of Helsinki metropolitan area. The city is characterized by high technology companies but also by beautiful nature, such as the Baltic sea with many islands or Nuuksio nature reserve. In Espoo there are several small city or suburb centers but if you are looking for something bigger you have to take a bus to Helsinki. The public transportation in Helsinki area is generally good, so you can very well stay in Espoo and visit the nearby cities daily.

Attractions and Things to See and Do

There are lots of cultural activities going on in Espoo all the time. There are concerts with all kinds of music. If you are interested in architecture try visiting Tapiola or Otaniemi campus. There are lots of buildings designed by the famous architect Alvar Aalto. Other beautiful spots are mansions, eg. Espoon kartano.
If you like being outdoors I recommend visiting eg. Nuuksio nature reserve in Northern Espoo. If you are here in the summertime you should take a boat to the beautiful islands, or if you are here in the winter you can try skiing on the ice of the sea. In any case you should try to find a sauna and go swimming during your visit in Finland.
If you are a student I recommend visiting Otaniemi Helsinki University of Technology campus area for nice parties. :) See for some more information.
