Movies that I've enjoyed recently or in the past: As It Is In Heaven, The Dark Knight, Margot at the Wedding, Pride and Prejudice, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Red Violin, Amelie.
Music that I listen to lately: I have fallen in love with Armenian music, especially anything featuring the Duduk. It is so evocative and atmospheric. BBC Radio 3's "Late Junction"always provides something interesting, Gillian Welch, any classical Cello music, Bonnie Prince Billy, Palestrina, Les Yeux Noirs, Ane Brun, Cecilia Bartoli, random things on Last.fm tagged with things like "gypsy" and "french" and the list goes on.
Books: All time favorite is "Farmer Boy" by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Currently reading "Sacred Games" by Vikram Chandra (fantastic!) and "A History of the Arab Peoples" by Albert Hourani and am always striving to read this weeks Economist cover to cover, usually failing when I get to the 'Business' section. Have just finished up "Musicophilia" by Oliver Sacks. |
