About this address:This is my native village where I have come to stay with my mother for a few months till May 2009. The village is well connected to the rest of the country by road and my home is right on a state highway. The nearest metropolis, Calcutta, is an overnight road trip from here and the location if Dumaria makes it close to 3 neighboring states: West Bengal, Orissa, and Bihar. Other major cities near Dumaria are the steel-city, Jamshedpur (12 hours by road), and the capital of Bihar, Patna (6 hours by train & road)
Travels and interests
Languages spoken: Native Hindi and English, reasonable Spanish, Gujrati, Marathi, Bengali, and very little French and German
Hobbies, Interests: Travelling, learning languages, meeting new people, making life-long friends, and learning new things. Besides these, I also love writing. I write dark poetry and scribble useless stuff quite too often. Never published though. ;-) And FOOD!!!
Organizations I am a member of:
Travel experience: So far, only within India except for one trip to Nepal. Have travelled extensively to many parts of the country including Gujrat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, South India, Delhi, Kashmir, and Rajasthan. Haven't yet been to the North-East though. Based on my personal travel experiences, I can safely state that India seems more like a collection of independent nations than a single country! Every state is so very different than the rest of the country that it seems totally aloof! The people, the lifestyle, the language, the culture, the food, the clothing...everything is unique about every region of this simply huge country!
Planned trips, where & when (you can also post your plans in the Forum): Planning a very eccentric "rail trip" to London from Bombay this October-November. Not sure yet if it will be possible but am trying to put things in place. Would love to have companions on board if anyone feels adventurous enough! Eventually, I plan several trips to almost all countries of the world, including atleast one round-the-world itinerary.
Anything else about myself: All I can say is you have a friend for life in me.
Help and advice
I can offer:Accommodation:yes show around town - have someone over for dinner
Best times for me to help someone:Anytime
Nearby public transport: My neighborhood is well connected with the rest of the city by both rail and road. Nearest local train station, Kandivali Station, is less than 10 minutes away and there's a local bus stop down the street. Plenty of inexpensive "rickshaws" and cabs available too.
Nearby bigger cities, distance: Bombay! This is THE city! Other major cities (though not bigger than Bombay) nearby are: Pune: 4 hours by road or rail; 40 minutes by flight Goa: 12 hours by road or rail; 1 hour by flight Ahmedabad: 1 hour by flight
Interesting things to see and do where I live, my tips (please also add this to theJust like any international metropolis, Bombay has everything to offer that an urban concrete jungle should. Besides, it has the largest wildlife reserve in the world that is confined within a single metropolitan area, the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Rich in panthers and other wild animals, this offers excellent settings for trekking and camping. Less than 2 hours from the city are Lonavla and Khandala, the colonial hill stations best to be visited during the monsoons. The Alibaug island (1 hour by ferry from the Gateway of India) is another idyllic spot for an overnight sleepover. Besides, there are plenty of beaches, international standard shopping centers, malls, museums, historical and colonial monuments, art gallaries, theates, opera, etc...enough to keep anyone occupied for as long as one can afford. Bombay is also home to the Indian film industry, popularly known as Bollywood. So, naturally, movies are big here with plenty of shootings and star-studded parties and events happenning everywhere. Bombay boasts of the most vibrant nightlife in the subcontinent with all sorts of nightclubs, bars, discs, lounges, and cafes dotted across the town.

Profile Summary: Well, I suck at describing myself, to be very honest. The name is Amit and am from India. Though I prefer to call myself a world citizen and I consider this whole world my home. The thing I like doing the most is, I guess, knowing people, their languages, their cultures, their lifestyles, and their thoughts. My biggest passion is to touch as many lives as I can and earn their love. I am here to help you all learn what I know and win your contribution in my own learning too. I am here to win friends and their love. I used to work as a project manager with a software company till recently but have now quit my job and am doing my own stock-trading business. And I wish to travel the world starting this year and settle down someplace in the West eventually. I especially love everything Latino: The lifestyle, the people, and the language. So my dear friends, please feel free to add me, message me and I can promise you I will be a friend till my last breath.
