Anything else about myself: Please, visit my photo webpage to see (among others) - the history of my place, what you can expect coming to Kiabakari, its surroundings and my work: http://community.webshots.com/user/vor822. My house is open to everyone with a no-nonsense approach to life and people though I reserve the right of admission. I respect everyone, regardless of their denomination, ethnicity, social status and political or personal stand. And I expect just the same from my guests. I know how to address my visitors' needs, and in most cases I am capable to help. I do not make profit on my guests, but - as I am living of donations - I need my guests to cover just the expenses I incur hosting them, so my strained budget does not gets busted!
Help and advice
I can offer:Accommodation:yes show around town - have someone over for dinner - other:help with planning trips around the area, medical assistance etc.
Best times for me to help someone:All year round - I would advise though (unless it is an emergency) to contact me by email at least 30 days before a planning date of arrival to make sure I am around and there is available space for visitors, as my place becomes very busy at times and available space in the main house and the guest house may be very limited or none at all.
Nearby public transport: Plenty of buses from all directions, local minibuses or taxis from Musoma, airports at Musoma (37km) and Mwanza (195km), Nairobi-Kenya (560km)
Nearby bigger cities, distance: Musoma Municipality (37km), Butiama Village (13km), Mwanza City (185km), Nairobi-Kenya (560km), Arusha (470km), Dar es Salaam (1120km)
Interesting things to see and do where I live, my tips (please also add this to theSerengeti National Park (with its massive attractions it has to offer - game viewing, hot air baloon adventures, the migration of wildlife - just to name the few), Musoma Municipality and Lake Victoria (Lukuba Island in particular and airboat trips on the Mara River Delta), Mwanza City and its vicinity (Saa Nane Island, Bujora Sukuma Museum, Bismarck Rock), Butiama Village (a place of birth of the Founding Father of Tanzania - Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere) with Mwalimu Nyerere Museum and His Mausoleum (his burial site), Kiabakari and its surroundings - truly genuine village experience and so on. This is a great place for volunteers too who would wish to help us out in our health center and center for education and formation; and in other projects which are carried out by our Foundation 'Kiabakari' (please, visit www.kiabakari.org to learn more on volunteers' programs in Kiabakari).
