Anything else about myself: I have a three-room apartment near the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang where the Formula-1 race circuit is. I occupy the master bedroom and currently have an engineer tenant who has rented one of the other rooms. I have a newly-acquired mattress for you to sleep on in the third bedroom, which has nice curtains, a fan and three windows. It also has a pangkin (traditional Malay sleeping platform). I can lend you a pillow. You will have to share the bathroom with the engineer. He's in charge of the baggage handling system at KLIA, by the way. So if your bag's gone missing, you can have the pleasure of giving him an earful!I DON'T have the slightest inclination to meet up with families, sorry. I hate other people's children, especially spoilt ones, because I can't smack them if they misbehave. They drive me up the wall! And, no, I am not interested in hearing stories about the latest antics of your irascible little brats, even if you think they're so damn cute. One brat pulled out one of my potted plants for no rhyme or reason other than the fact that he was kurang ajar and he was pissing in his pants by the time I was through with him. And as for the bitch with no parenting skills who calls herself the mother... Well, let's say she should have been neutered at birth. If you have sent me your Full Name, Passport Number, Flight Number AND I have agreed to meet you at the Main Terminal Building (MTB) of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, THEN and ONLY THEN please meet me at MEETING POINT B on Level 3 (International Arrivals). Don't expect me to meet you or even host you if you do not give me your Full Name, Passport Number, Flight Number, ETA and Date of Arrival BEFOREHAND. I get a lot of no-show time-wasters/scammers who don't even give me these basic details beforehand. More people than you think apparently make a hobby of requesting accommodation without the slightest intention of turning up. It would strengthen your chances if you have been vouched for, verified, have friends and references. You can get to my apartment by taking the KLIA Transit Express Rail Link, (ERL) (long word for "slow train") from Level 2 at MTB, KL International Airport (KLIA). This is one level down from the Arrival Hall which is on Level 3. The fare is RM3.20 (about US85¢) and the journey time is 6 minutes. If you need local money, there are ATMs on Level 3 which accept credit cards. Alternatively, there are money changers on Level 3 as well.Get down at the first stop, Salak Tinggi Station. Phone me before you leave KLIA and I'll pick you up from the Salak Tinggi Station or else you can walk to my mini pos office two minutes away, at the Airport City Business Centre. DO NOT take the non-stop KLIA Express (the "fast train") as it doesn't stop at Salak Tinggi Station but goes straight to KL Central. If you arrive on a cheap flight on AirAsia or any other budget airline, then you would disembark at the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) for budget airlines. This is a different kettle of fish altogether. For starters, the LCCT is 22 km from the MTB; yes, 22 km.You will have to take the NADI KLIA bus service that runs between the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) and KLIA Main Terminal Building (MTB).NADI KLIA operates a shuttle bus service that plies between MTB to LCCT to MTB as follows: Pick Up/Drop Off Points: MTB: Platform No. 8, Bus Station LCCT: Bus Station Fare: RM1.50 - one way Schedule: First trip / Last Trip MTB: 0530 hrs / 0010 hrs LCCT: 0555 hrs / 0035 hrs Frequency: Every 20 minutesWe are forbidden to keep pets in my apartment and I do not allow the smoking of tobacco (cigarettes, pipes, cigars, cigarellos or whatever else you wish to call those cancer-sticks). The mandatory sentence for the possession of illegal psychotropic substances is the death penalty in Malaysia (yes, we're kinda barbaric that way, we still hang murderers and drug traffickers) so stay smart and stay alive.I have 24x7 DSL Internet access and so you can keep in touch with friends and family back home by email or Skype. There's a fridge, a stove and you can prepare halal, kosher or vegetarian dishes. Strictly no pork allowed, not even for storage in the fridge. (I have to do the whole ritual ablution thing and decontaminate the whole apartment, so don't even try...) The local laundrette charges RM2 a kg (US$1 = RM3.80) or you can handwash as I don't have a washing machine. I usually go to sleep late. I am self-employed so it doesn't matter if you come weekdays or weekends and can usually show people round in my car. The local time is UTC +8 hrs and the coldest it ever gets at night is 24°C and the heat in the day gets to about 30°C max. Blankets are not necessary but light cotton clothing are advisable.I am 75 km from the commercial capital city of Kuala Lumpur (28 minutes and 3 stops away by train) and 6 minutes from the administrative capital of Putrajaya (1 stop away by train). My place is ideal if you need somewhere to stay just after you land in KLIA at some odd hour or missed a flight and need somewhere near the airport to stay. I'm a great cook and I'd love to learn new recipes so please do come prepared to teach me how to cook some exotic dish from your neck of the woods. A really fun thing we could do is have a lakeside barbecue at Taman Wetland Lake Recreational Centre, one of the lovely parks in Putrajaya. Its just a short drive and boat ride away from my place and they provide all the cooking facilities and running water. We just have to bring food, drinks, plates, cutlery and a healthy appetite! The lakeside park at Cyberjaya called the Taman Tasik Cyberjaya is an excellent place to visit and photograph the charming scenery and flora (water lilies, gingers, heliconia, and etc.)I live just 10 minutes away from Paya Indah Wetlands, which will re-open sometime in 2006 (exactly when is anybody's guess). Located in Kuala Langat District in the State of Selangor, Paya Indah Wetlands covers an area of 3,100 hectares, encompassing a myriad of ecosystems, namely former tin-mining land and peat swamp forests. If you like historical sites, there's Sultan Abdul Samad's Mausoleum and an old Dutch fort at Bukit Jugra together with a beautiful lighthouse, prawn farms and the best beggar chicken restaurant in Malaysia. Too bad the military had to spoil the view by building an unsightly radar station. Other sites include an old mosque and Palace at Bandar Lama Jugra. Jugra is just under an hour's drive away.
