Gulbene district is on of the Vidzeme districts situated in north-eastern part of Latvia. District center Gulbene is situated 186 km away from Riga. Good road network provides intercommunication with capital and neighboring districts.
There are 14 local governments/ municipalities in administrative territory of the district (13 villages and a town).
Gulbene district is one of the smallest in the state in the means of territory and number of inhabitants. Total territory makes 187.607,2 ha.
Although Gulbene district is not big in territory it is rich in cultural and nature monuments.
