Check the Leo (an independent newspaper) for happenings in our city as well as shows in surrounding cities. Louisville Science Museum, Imax, Bardstown Road has lots of cool shops/restarants. See a show at the Rudyard Kipling, Cahoots is a decent bar, ice skate at Gardiner Lanes til midnight. Kentucky Derby is supposed to be cool but I've never been. Horse back ride in Iriquois park or follow the signs in the park to the highest point and get an awesome view of Louisville. Goesemonite is a monostary in ?Bardstown, KY about 30 minutes away and is a great place to hike, especially in the fall it is georgeous.
