Minneapolis is fairly cosmopolitan and has a lot more culture (and different cultures) than most people would think (more theater and dance per capita than New York without the hugeness/price/traffic). There are really great communities of artists, activists, spiritual seekers and people in recovery (Hazelden is a big detox center) in Minneapolis, although there is some truth to the "Minnesota nice" reputation. Outside of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, there are many gorgeous areas for nature lovers and many small towns with mostly German and Scandinavian ancestry. Duluth and Rochester are the next biggest cities. Outdoor Activities: canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking (no actual mountains), white water rafting, fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, sledding, ice skating, etc.

PAUL - State capitol, historic places, SHAKOPEE - Valley Fair & Renaissance Faire, BLOOMINGTON - Mall of America, ROCHESTER - Mayo Clinic, NATURE AREAS - Boundary Waters, Grand Marais/Duluth/Lake Superior, Stillwater/Thief River Falls
