Mountains! Mountains! Mountains! The reason I myself have decided to live in this part of the world for awhile is the extremely beautiful wilderness in these parts. The Pacific Northwest (the states of Washington and Oregon)is one of the most beautiful places I've been thus far on the globe. Go backpacking! Climb some volcanoes! Go to the coast! Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, Mt. Jefferson...the Cascade Mountain Range is beautiful. The city of portland has many interseting things to offer as well. It's one of the most progressive cities in the US, with strong labor rights and environmental activist groups. (I have worked with many of them) Places in the city to visit: Upper Hawthorne Street (around 37th & Hawthorne), Northwest, the Rose Garden, the Japanese Gardens, the Chinese Classical Garden (dwntwn), Powell's City of Books (dwntwn)
