Introduction
Cuernavaca (1.54 km high)is the capital of the small state of Morelos, 1hr ahead from the Big City, is a good chance for one or two day trips. On your way you might be able to see the great volcano Popocatepetl, the smoky mountain.

If you are comming from the North, this region is where the TROPIC begins: with blossoming vegetation and colorful gardens all over. This place is known by foreigners, who come to language schools to study spanish.

The name Cuernavaca stems from Nahuatl Cuahunahuac, meaning close to the forest. The climate is mostly mild, warm and sunny, with refreshing nights. There is a rainy season, in the Summer. Cuernavaca is a very good choice for nightclubbing as any s State/region.

Top Things to See and Do

In Morelos you should not forget your SWIMSUITS! Is very likely you will bump-in a pool somehow. There are many Archeological sites (Xochicalco, Chalcatzingo)and Haciendas worth visiting for the impressive scenarios. In Cuernavaca visit ex-Hacienda Cortés, Jardín Borda and The Cathedral; good food and restaurants all over.

Neighbor regions/States:

Visit for sure Tepoztlán: the hills with pyramid and the little town with Chruch, cofee shops and Convent; and hacienda-hotel or spas in Oaxtepec, or Hot springs in nearby Cuatla . You can then head to Taxco, the Colonial City, famous for its good Silver!
