Introduction Scania occupies the most southern part of the Scaninavian peninsula, and its area measures 21,000 sqm with a population of around 1.5 million. The biggest city is Malmö, and it takes only 20 minutes to go over the bridge to Copenhagen in Denmark. For many travellers, Scania is the gateway to Sweden with boat connections to Germany, Poland & Finland/Baltic states. And of course, Copenhagen Airport is the closest international airport if you come by plane.
Top Things to See and Do Scania is known for its nature, culture and food. There are several nice beaches to visit, many tracks to go walking or biking, and plenty of other things to visit and experience. Take your time to visit the towns, villages and meet the people, and you will understand that Scania is not like the rest of Sweden. In history, Scania has been both Danish and independent, creating a region in Sweden different from the other. Being so closely connected to the rest of Europe, you will also find that people are open-minded and used to multi-cultural experiences and traditions.
Neighbor regions/States: Scania (Skåne) borders to the regions Halland, Småland and Blekinge in the north. Denmark is easily accessible from Malmö, Helsingborg and Ystad (to the island Bornholm), and you can get to Poland and Germany by boat.
