Introduction
Greece / Hellas / Ellada

The cultural and historical background of Greece has sprinkled the landscapes with ruins that span six thousand years. The alternating invaders, the peaceful settlers, and the country's position at the crossroads between east and west, have all left their mark on the Greek cultural landscape. Ancient sites abound in the country side, and museums in cities protect priceless artifacts from antiquity. Mother earth has also been kind to the land and has adorned the mainland and the Greek islands with an impressive array of natural attractions. Most loved by travelers are the extensive sunshine and the ocean's unlimited hues of blue. Choosing the best places to visit during a short vacation can be challenging. This travel guide includes some of the best Greek destinations in the hopes of helping those who plan to travel to Greece.

Neighboring countries: Italy, Albania, FYROM,Bulgaria,Turkey .

Greece is a modern European country with an incredible amount of diversity in the landscape and culture. The large cities like Athens, Thessaloniki, Patra,Heraklion and Ioannina, display a relentless pace that can be hard to get used to at first. It would be best to design a trip that can provide relief from city life by escaping to the country side, or to one of the thousands of islands in the Aegean or Ionian sea. ?

There are many things to see and do in Athens as a visitor, during the day one can visit Parthenon and other archaeological sites, museums, the Olympic games venues, go to the beach for swimming or sports, make excursions around and much more, at night there are many options, too: go for a walk in Plaka (old town), dining out, clubs and bars, concerts, cinema, etc.

Very good food and great beaches! Renting a car is advisable to fully enjoy what the Chania region has to offer.
