Introduction
Ghana is situated along the coast of West Africa. Agriculture and cattle rearing are the main subsistence activities of most Ghanaian families. Food crops such as cassava, coco, yams, plantains and maize are cultivated in the forest zones, while yams, maize (corn) and millet are grown on the savannas or grasslands.

Despite having many varied and diverse ethnic groups, Ghana has virtually no ethnic rivalries. Since their ancestors migrated to the region, people have lived together in relative harmony. Intermarriage between Ghanaians from different ethnic groups is also common.
