Introduction
Antarctica is the coldest, windiest, highest (on average), and driest continent; during summer, more solar radiation reaches the surface at the South Pole than is received at the Equator in an equivalent period; and it's mostly uninhabitable. But man, what a place! Getting here is the most difficult part, but once you're here you'll never forget it.

Top Things to See and Do
Wildlife viewing, glaciers, icebergs, science stations, the McMurdo Dry Valleys, penguin rookeries, historic huts

Neighboring countries: None! New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, Chile, and South Africa are kinda close.

Who is coming? Just add your user name and basic info (date and places you will visit) about your trip here, maybe other members will invite you or meet up with you on the road. Use your profile to tell more about your plans.

The single biggest question on people's mind is "How do I get to Antarctica?" Pretty much the only ways are to come as a scientist or assistant to one, work for a company that does support work, or go on a tourist cruise. Working here is great, check with your country's national science program to find out how you might be able to (In the US it's the National Science Foundation, supported by Raytheon Polar Services). The cruises mostly go only to the peninsula, which has a lot more wildlife and interesting stuff than the rest of the continent. Honestly, McMurdo isn't worth visiting as a tourist unless you're into gritty industrial towns. You can also come down with a private expedition, but that's going to cost you a heap of money and require a lot of arrangements that go way beyond the scope of this website.
