Introduction:
The Republic of Malta, consists of an archipelago of 7 islands, only 3 of which are inhabited, namely: Malta (the biggest island), Gozo and Comino.
Lying at the very centre of the Mediterranean, Malta is widely known for its rich historical and archeological heritage. It has been inhabitated since 5000BC and some of the oldest still-standing buildings in the world can be found on the islands. Moreover, as time passed Malta was colonized by the Punics, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Angovines, Knights of St. John, French and English from whom the Maltese finally took their independence in 1964. Besides, Malta is also fun! One can find beautiful beaches accompanied by the very good weather; good night-life, pubs and discos; all kinds of water sports; boat trips; bbqs and beach parties; diving facilites and sites; good restaurants and hotels; shopping centres etc etc - name it - you can do it! Except skiing of course :-) Due to Malta's size very many different things can be included in just one evening! For everything else you would like to know visit www.visitmalta.com

The city is a pleasure to walk around at any time of day. The architecture is beautiful and there are great views all around. Apart from that there are numerous museums and attractions as well as cafes, bars and restaurants.
