The county Fernwald is a union of 3 villages East of Giessen, Germany. The name Fernwald means “Far Forest” and was chosen because the 3 villages are settled around the largest part of the Giessen woods. The 3 villages are Albach, Annerod and Steinbach.

The 3 villages can be easily reached by walking from one to the other. Also there is a bus going to Giessen once every hour. From Giessen you can take trains in all directions several times the hour. Frankfurt can be easily reached by public transportation within a little more than an hour. By car it would take about half an hour. Fernwald is located right next to the Autobahn A5.

We are living very close to the old Roman border wall, the limes. There is an old guard tower nearby. Also old sights from the celts, an old monastery, castles and so on. Our village is very small with a very traditional center. A great place to check out historical wood timbered houses is nearby.
