Görlitz is the most eastern city of Germany and lies on the river Neiße, on the German-Polish border. It even has a polish part called Zgorzelec. Quiet, narrow cobblestone alleys and late-medieval and Renaissance structures make Görlitz one of the most charming finds in eastern Germany. Once a major commercial hub between Dresden and Wroclaw, Germany's easternmost city fell into small-town oblivion after World War II. The Germans blew up all of the city's bridges over the Neisse River in the last days of the war (the eastern bank of the city now belongs to Poland), but Görlitz was barely touched by Allied bombings.

Top Things to See and Do
The city consists of old houses of different styles of architecture (baroque, gothic, ...), everything is renovated - just wonderful to walk around, you can also visit a small monument for the 15th degree of longitude to which the Central European time refers, which is directly going through Görlitz.

For further information take a look at:

Nearby cities/suburbs: Dresden (100km in the west), Berlin (200km in the norths), Wroclaw (ca. 150km in the east) and Prague (150km) is also not that far
