Introduction
Aschaffenburg is a nice town with around 69 000 inhabitants who are said to be among the most content people in Germany (no joke!) Even though it is in the very Northwest of Bavaria it is often called the “Bavarian Nice”. The city is on the River Main and bordered by the Spessart mountains, which offer many trekking ways. Even the city itself is very green with its many parks, among them Schönbusch Park, one of the most beautiful English landscape gardens in Germany.

Top Things to See and Do
Schloss Johannisburg (castle), Pompejanum, Stiftskirche (church), Schönbusch Park, cycling along the Main, hiking

Nearby cities/suburbs: Frankfurt (40km), Miltenberg (40 km), Alzenau, Obernburg, Elsenfeld, Erlenbach, Hösbach, Kleinostheim (6 km), Großostheim (10km), Kahl

There is a nice castle in Aschaffenburg and a sweet historic city centre with lots of cafés and bars. In the summer you can go for a walk down the River Main and sit there for a while (it´s wonderful). There are also boat tours you can book.
