Introduction
Siegen is supposed to have about 150.000 habitants, but the town is spread pretty far, and for that has the air of being much smaller. One weird thing is, that you´ve got all the industry in the city center, and the *nicer* parts outside.
Siegen ist a good place to relax. From Cologne or Frankfurt it is 1,5 h by Train so it´s a good place to stay for the night. Everybody who likes to hike is right here, because once you get out of the town, there is a lot of nice countryside around. (But it´s pretty rainy, so be prepared!)
There are more than 50 members in Siegen by now, but I just know a few (who I like pretty much). I think a lot of them are students. You should be able to find some place in Siegen

Top Things to See and Do
Hiking or anything else in the countryside; the upper and the lower castle, the museum of contemporary art, the (pretty small) historical quarter; ask students for parties (maybe you´re lucky and catch something private).

Nearby cities/suburbs: Really close: Kreuztal, Netphen, Burbach, Haiger (but when you depend on public transport, I´d suggest Kreuztal or Siegen, because public transport is bad and expensive out here.)

Traveling to Siegen: The next airports are Cologne and Frankfurt. From there are direct-train Connections to Siegen.

Who is coming? Just add your user name and basic info (date and places you will visit) about your trip here, maybe other members will invite you or meet up with you on the road. Use your profile to tell more about your plans.

not the best places for a bigger sightseeing-tour around, perhaps the university of siegen and the two castles of siegen, some historical places (ore mines, typical timbered houses etc.)

Siegen is ... small. And sometimes, to be honest with you small minded aswell. It's yet historic and looking on it's history some might feel understandment for the specimen of human race living near the woods.

not a lot to be quite honest...the old city is quite nice and the surrounding area is great for walking and cycling
