| Swine flu oddly picks on the young...infants to mid-late 20's. Usual
presentation is: sorethroat > malaise > low fever > muscle ache >dry cough >
productive cough of white-gray to yellow expectoration > no appetite > no energy
> little headache. Somehow, libido is not affected (I mention this just to
emphasize NO SEX with anyone under any circumstance). Preferrably, NO SEX.
Period. (Conseve energy)
I am particularly concerned with young traveling members contacting Swine Flu
because of the mild symptomatology that might not enough reason for them to
observe basic health care measures: bedrest, fluids (water....NOT tea or booze),
adequate nutrition and self-imposed quarantine (meaning, do not give it to host.
Converse from a hearing distance, preferrably with a surgical mask...or
multi-layered cotton improvised mask). ......And of course, chicken soup! DO NOT
take any mind altering drugs.
Symptoms more than mild (high fever, mental changes, breathing difficulty,
bloody expectoration, bigger headache, nausea, vomiting, visual
problems...etc...) should prompt immediate professional medical provision.
In the USA, go directly to any teaching medical center ER, with or without
insurance or financial means. Do not bother with private doctors' office...even
if it is affordable.
Remember, when it kills (it overwhelmingly does not), victims are usually in the
age range of club traveling members....up to mid-late 20's. It is strongly
recommended that young members get Swine flu vaccination before traveling this
fall. |
