I had a look on the regions within Bosnia and Herzegovina and there is a big
mess!

I have the following proposal for the Regions:
For the Federation I would take the existing 10 cantons. The Republika Srpska
doesn't have cantons, but it consists of 7 regions and the regions don't have to
be necessarily political. This is where I found the list of regions
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republika_Srpska. Not to forget the District
Brčko.

Regions for Bosnia and Herzegovina:

[BRČKO]
Brčko

[FEDERACIJA BOSNA I HERCEGOVINA]
Hercegovačko-neretvanski kanton
Bosansko-podrinjski kanton
Posavski kanton
Kanton Sarajevo
Srednjobosanski kanton
Tuzlanski kanton
Unsko-sanski kanton
Kanton br. 10
Zapadnohercegovački kanton
Zeničko-dobojski kanton

[REPUBLIKA SRPSKA]

Banja Luka
Bijeljina
Doboj
Foča
Sarajevo-Romanija
Trebinje
Vlasenica

I’m interested to hear other opinions, especially from persons with special
knowledge about Bosnia and Herzegovina.
How are the regions of the Federation written, if I leave the word kanton away?
Hercegovačko-neretvanski? Hercegovačko-neretvanska?

Greetings,
Johannes

This is, how the existing regions should be distributed on the regions I
proposed. 1st you see the regions proposed by me and then the so far existing
regions, but as I said already it’s a big mess.

1 Banja Luka: Banja Luka, Northwestern Bosnia - Republic of Srpska, Prijedor,
Republic of Serbs (only Banja Luka and kotor-varos), Republic of Srpska
2 Bijeljina: Bijeljina, Republic of Serbs (only Bijeljina)
3 Bosansko-podrinjski kanton: BOSANSKO PODRINJSKI KANTON GORAŽDE
4 Brčko: Brcko Distrikt
5 Doboj: posavina, Republic of Serbs (only Derventa and Doboj)
6 Foča: Trebinjsko-srbinjska regija (only Foca)
7 Hercegovačko-neretvanski kanton: Hercegovacko neretvanski kanton (except
Trebinje), Mostar
8 Kanton br. 10: Canton 10
9 Kanton Sarajevo: Sarajevo (except Klujc)
10 Posavski kanton
11 Sarajevo-Romanija
12 Srednjobosanski kanton: Centralna BiH (only Jajce), Sredisnja Bosna
13 Trebinje: Eastern Herzegovina, Hercegovacko neretvanski kanton (only
Trebinje), Trebinjsko-srbinjska regija (only Trebinje)
14 Tuzlanski kanton: Banovici City, Tuzla, Tuzlanski Kanton (except Zenica)
15 Unsko-sanski kanton: Kljuc, Sarajevo (only Klujc), Unkso sanski kanton,
Unsko-sanski
16 Vlasenica: eastern bosnia, Republic of Serbs (only Zvornik)
17 Zapadnohercegovački kanton
18 Zeničko-dobojski kanton: Centralna BiH (only Visoko), Tuzlanski Kanton
(only Zenica), Zeničko-dobojski

sarajevo, zenicko-dobojski (you can’t put 2 cities [maglaj, Sarajevo] and 2
cantons [sarajevo, zenicko-dobojski] as 1st address!

About Sarajevo, u have suberb which is so called Serbian Sarajevo.

Republika Srpska doesn't have their army anymore, but still they have their
police and they are trying to keep it, even federation and eu, don't want that.

Curnetly EU and Federation wants to make Bosnia centrelaized (even I think so,
but most of the Serbs don't). Personaly I think that the best solution is
centralizing Bosnia or making separate autonomy for Croats.

This discussion was not meant to be political. It's not about, if Bosnia should
be centralised or not.
It's how to make reasonable regions within the status quo.
The 2 entities are too big and the municipalities are too small. So for the
Federation we can take the 10 cantons and we can take the Brčko District as a
region.
But for the Republika Srpska there are no politically defined regions. So i
proposed these 7 regions above. But i'm still waiting for other or better
proposals.

Sorry if I offended u, I'm def. not fighting for Serbian independence in Bosnia
(even oposite). Just explaning situation. But always, there's a little bit of
politics ;) Just look yesterdays news. Federation and Republika Sprska goverment
and presidents couldn't agree about solution about centralizing Bosnian police.
Now, Bosnia is the only country in Europe that doesn't have negotieting
relationships with EU.

If u aks for mine opinion. They should not make just Brcko or Srebrnica, but
many more districts, but the problem is bcs. both sides want to it to be without
any kind of authonomy.

Cheers man ;)

Hi!

We should definitely solve this issue until summer ...
The proposal of "wind" is very reasonable: the 10 official "kantons" of Bosnia
and Herzegovina
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cantons_of_the_Federation_of_Bosnia_and_Herzegovin
a ) and the 7 "not-so-official" regions of the RS
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Municipalities_of_Republika_Srpska ) should be
regarded as the 17 subdivision of "Bosnia and Herzegovina". The only question
still to be solved would be which version of the names to use: the English
translations of the canton's/region's names, sort of a transcription adapted to
the cyrilliza (quite unusual in this context, I suppose) or just the original
names without - or, if possible, with - diacritical signs, just "normal" latin
alphabet (I think this would be the best).
In every case, it just can't be that there are for example 4-5 different places
(informatically spoken) in which members from Banja Luka are located. If we
create these 17 subdivisions, the borders between the Federation Bosnia and
Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska remain unclear for the not-informed user -
but this isn't a big damage, since the members of Bosnia and Herzegovina ARE
aware of this borders, since the future traveler will inform himself and since
this "optical" unification of this country is a very slight, but not at all a
bad "political statement"!!

Many regards,
Silvan.
