THE MIDNIGHT SUN CAMP june 20th to 24th 2007 IN THE FINNISH LAPLAND 


Celebrate Summer Solstice in the incredible Finnish Lapland under the 
midnightsun !  

We are very proud to offer you a possibility to experience the true Lapland. 
Spend good time hiking, exploring the wilderness, camping, sauna bathing and
swimming, all that in the great company of HC/CS people.  

We have reserved a large gottage on a beautiful riverbank in the 
middle of nowhere, away from the modern civilisation and electricity. 

However, the place isn't big enough to accommodate everyone and since we 
don't want to do any harm to the exceptionally fragile nature of Lapland, 
we're going to have to limit the number of participants to 40 people.

OMG telle, this is one mind-blowing, happening thing. I got the himalayan trip
later in july. BUT...I'm going to keep all my positive vibrations blowing so I
can make it too. Great opportunity to meet the himalayan probables there; and of
course the definites too.

Unfortunately (and luckily) I have to be in Lisbon on June 25. How long would it
take by bus/bus&train from the camp to Helsinki? I would need to fly out on June
24 afternoon at the latest. 

Hello !

It takes quite a long time to get from Lapland to Helsinki; about 8-10 hours or
so. And from the camp place you cannot get anywhere with public transportation
:-) 
It's REALLY in the middle of nowhere :-D

But anyway the camp ends on sunday latest at 12:00 and many people will head to
the south. So you'd probably get a lift to Helsinki, or at least to the next
place with public transportation. We'll try to organize the carpools as soon as
we have enough people who are sure to come (ie paid the fee).

Hello! I planed to visit friends exactly at that period! And your camp, as I see
will be right near the Russian border. As for me to travell in Russia is cheaper
then take bus in Finland, so who can tell me: Can I cross the border in Salla?
Is there the Finnish-Russian customs for foreighners?

2 Quota Sure you can. I crossed border in Salla. They have usual customs there
(for cars). If you need more info or someone who can drive you in Salla from
Russia just ask me.  I had transfer Kandalaksha – Levi via Sodankyla. It takes
total time 6-8 hours including customs process, so from Salla till Sodankyla
about 2-3 hours by car. Also they have bus but not very often.

This is not looking good, it seems I would have to take the train on Saturday
evening, but the question is how do I get to Kemijärvi? How far is it from the
campsite?

I hope I can sort this out :)
